As discussed in my article for the American Society for Indexing journal Key Words, here are the final versions of the indexes I created as a stretch project for Sarah Andersen’s comics collection Cryptid Club.
minimalist version for a print back-of-the-book
This shorter index provides some access and would save on printing costs, but the lack of subheadings requires users to check many more pages to find what they’re looking for.
deluxe version for an online extra for fans of the book
This deluxe version allows multiple points of access for users who want to find a particular comic again quickly, and keeps some of the charming quirks of the work. However, the length could be cost-prohibitive for a printed book.
